PTA MEMBERSHIP DRIVE
 
Calling all parents, teachers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and neighbors!  The HHE PTA Membership Drive has begun and is taking membership applications for the 2008-09 school year.  Membership in PTA helps you and your child(ren) stay connected with our school and its families.
 
Join Now!

  • HHE  PTA membership is renewable every year.
  • Annual membership fees are $6.00 per person. 
  • Join with a buddy (spouse, neighbor, relative, etc.) and get two memberships for $10.00.

  

HHE PTA is a volunteer organization made up the parents, teachers, our principal and other school staff.  The PTA provides financial and organizational support for academic instruction, supplemental programs, activities, enrichment, supplies and services that directly benefit our children and enhance their education.. We also provide direct support to the school, school grounds, buildings, classrooms and our teachers.  Join PTA today and you will be partnering with us to make this the very best school for all of our children. 
 

Why Join??
 
The number one reason to join the Parent Teacher Association is to benefit your child.   In doing so, you also help our school. Becoming a PTA member opens up leadership opportunities, and builds skills in communication and advocacy strategies. Members who are willing to get involved are a valuable resource for starting and maintaining programs and projects to benefit children, youth, and the community.  There are many more advantages. 

    Here are just a few:
  • Get Connected.  There’s no better way to know what’s happening in OUR school.
  • Discover Great Resources.  HHE PTA offers a variety of programs designed for parents as well as students.
  • Tap into a Network.  Parenting is not easy—it helps to share ideas, concerns and experiences with other parents and educators in the community. PTA functions are opportunities to meet other parents and teachers, building rapport and discussing issues that are on your mind.
  • Watch Yourself Grow.  By volunteering with our PTA, you gain valuable experiences. It’s an opportunity to put your skills and hobbies to good use for a good cause—your child and all children in the community.
  • Speak Up.  Because the PTA is a forum for exchanging ideas, you are encouraged to make suggestions. PTA can be a way for you to more effectively suggest change at your child’s school.
  • Witness Improvement.  By getting involved at your child’s school you’ll be part of the solution, helping make positive changes. Local PTAs play an important role in fundraising to provide building improvements, curriculum-based programs, and social events—all vital to a school’s success.
  • Be a Role Model. By becoming a PTA member, you'll be demonstrating to to your child the importance you place on education.
  • The power of PTA is in its membership. Every additional member adds power when your PTA goes before the school board, or speaks to a school board member. The number of our PTA adds clout when we contact state and federal legislators. With enough members, PTA can and does improve education, health and safety for every child.

    All members of the HHE PTA belong to:

    • A local unit; (HHE PTA)
    • A council (Broward County Council of PTA's);
    • Florida State PTA; and
    • National PTA

    Your membership dues ensure your right to vote at PTA meetings, defray the costs of materials you receive, and support your child's education.  If you decide not to pay dues, you may still attend meetings, but you may not vote.

 

  

 
PTA Meeting Information
 
 
Meeting attendance is NOT required.  We understand not everyone can make all or even any of the meetings- that's ok!  You can show your support  by simply joining!!
  • Generally, the Executive Board hosts to an open General meeting once a month, on the first Wednesday (that we are in school) 
  • *If school is out on the first Wednesday- we will meet the following Wednesday.
  • All General Meetings are open to everyone, however all voting is limited to PTA members only.
  • Children are always welcome at PTA General Meetings.
  • These meetings are open to all PTA members AND anyone else who would like to attend.
  • Notices with the date and time of the next meeting will go home with the students every month.
  • This information can also be found in the monthly Panther Beat school newsletter in addition to this website. We hope you will consider joining the PTA this year.
  • Remember that PTA membership is renewable each year, so we need the support of all returning parents as well as new ones.
  • As an official member, you'll also be able to participate and vote as we make major decisions throughout the year.
  •  PTA meetings are generally held in the HHE Cafeteria at 8am.  This years meeting schedule is as follows:
